Sagada is one of the better tourist destination in the Northern Philippines, located about 275 km. north of Manila. It is one of the 10 town of Mountain province, a part of the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). Among other things, Sagada is known for its limestones.
All tourist need to register at Municipal Registration office. There you will be asked to hire a guide.
There are guide cooperatives (SaGGAs and SEGA) set up whereby the tour guides take turns on a rotating basis to lead the groups througt the Caves and other Sights. This is a great idea because some of the money charged goes towards the maintenance of the Cave.
Saturday's is Sagada's big marketing day where locals sell their freshly-harvested agricultural products to the public. It was amazing to find out that goods here are so affordable that you could buy vegetables 3x cheaper than their market prices in Manila.
